Suffocation

Suffocation are pioneers of American death metal, a band whose crushing riffs, guttural vocals and hyper-technical brutality helped define the entire genre. Their early work laid the blueprint for what would become known as brutal and slam death metal, and albums like Effigy of the Forgotten and Pierced From Within remain touchstones for extreme-music devotees worldwide.

From the blistering “Liege of Inveracity” to the title track “Pierced from Within” and the pummeling “Funeral Inception,” the band pairs suffocating heaviness with jaw-dropping musicianship, later distilled on the Despise the Sun EP.
