Alan Walker
Alan Olav Walker, born on 24 August 1997, is a British-Norwegian music producer and DJ known for his acclaimed single “Faded” (2015), which achieved platinum certification in 14 countries. His other popular tracks include “Sing Me to Sleep,” “Alone,” “Darkside,” and “On My Way,” all amassing hundreds of millions of views on YouTube.
In early 2017, Walker’s YouTube channel became the most subscribed channel in Norway, reaching 6 million subscribers. As of March 2023, his channel remains the most subscribed in Norway, with 43.2 million subscribers as of May 8, 2023. He holds the record for the most views among Norwegian creators, with approximately 12.5 billion views as of April 30, 2023.
Born in Northampton, England, to a British father and Norwegian mother, Walker gained dual citizenship from both the United Kingdom and Norway. He grew up with an elder sister born in England and a younger brother born in Norway. Developing an interest in computers, he taught himself music production by watching YouTube tutorials.
Walker’s career started in 2012 when he reached out to Italian DJ David Whistle for music production guidance. Influenced by EDM producers and film composers, he began creating music on his laptop using FL Studio. Walker released his track “Fade” in 2014, gaining attention after its re-release in 2014. He signed with MER Musikk and released his breakthrough single “Faded” in 2015, featuring Iselin Solheim. The song topped charts worldwide and gained billions of views on YouTube.
Walker left high school in January to focus on his music career. He made his performance debut at the Winter X Games in Oslo, where he performed “Faded” with Iselin Solheim. He collaborated with Zara Larsson at the Echo Awards in Germany and released successful singles like “Sing Me to Sleep” and “Alone.” In December, he held a concert in Bergen called “Alan Walker is Heading Home,” performing several tracks, including “Heading Home” and “The Spectre.”
Walker continues to release music and perform live, maintaining his popularity as a prominent music producer and DJ.
