Thrash royalty out of New York City. Formed in 1981 by rhythm guitarist Scott Ian, Anthrax sits in the genre’s fabled “Big Four” alongside Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer — East Coast speed, humor, and mosh-pit politics from Queens/Yonkers outward.
The current lineup is Ian, drummer Charlie Benante, bassist Frank Bello, vocalist Joey Belladonna, and lead guitarist Jonathan Donais. Landmark eras span Among the Living and the Belladonna years, the John Bush stretch, and Belladonna’s return on Worship Music (2011) and For All Kings (2016).
