About

Big Dumb Face is the gleefully absurd metal side-project founded in Jacksonville, Florida in 1998 by Wes Borland, the guitarist of Limp Bizkit, with his younger brother Scott Borland and childhood friends Kyle Weeks and Greg Isabelle. It grew out of riffs and ideas too strange for Limp Bizkit, filtered through a shared love of Ween and Mr. Bungle — a band that treats sudden lurches between grindcore, death-metal growls, funk, disco and pitch-shifted cartoon voices as the whole point.

Their 2001 debut Duke Lion Fights the Terror!! (Flip/Interscope) introduced the project’s cast of heroes and monsters, delivering comedy metal completely straight-faced. After a long hiatus Borland revived Big Dumb Face for Where Is Duke Lion? He’s Dead… in 2017, released through his own Edison Sound label, and followed it with the seasonal oddity Christmas in the Cave of Dagoth in 2021.

Equal parts joke and genuine showcase for Borland’s one-man-band multi-instrumental chops, Big Dumb Face has become a cult favourite among Limp Bizkit and Black Light Burns fans alike.
